In two hours, members of the DSACT Advocacy Committee and invited guests will provide a basic understanding of our state's legislative process and how to interact directly with decision makers.

We will focus on how to create positive change by sharing your lived experiences with decision makers in order to make Texas a better place to live for people with Down syndrome.

Topics Include:
- What is Advocacy?
- At home, on the phone and in person
- The Texas Legislative Process
- How to educate decision makers
- Current Issues
- Scenarios/role-playing

At the conclusion of this session, parent and self-advocates should be able to join in organized efforts to speak to local, county, school, and state officials.
