Arc of the Arts

Ages 14+ Years

We are very pleased to collaborate with The Arc of the Capital Area to offer our members an opportunity to participate in a wonderful fine arts program called, “Arc of the Arts”. The Arc of the Capital Area developed the Arc of the Arts pro-gram and created the studio and gallery to promote social inclusion and increase access to non-segregated activities for youth and adults with developmental dis-abilities. Arc of the Arts provides an opportunity for adults with disabilities to learn job skills and to ultimately work towards making a personal income in the arts.

This program gives people with disabilities the opportunity to be an artist in every sense of the word. Engaging volunteer artists from the community, Arc of the Arts provides art classes in a socially inclusive environment for youth and adults with developmental disabilities, ages 14 and older. The Fine Arts program is a place of warmth and creativity, where artists have the freedom to work at their own pace, learn new skills and come one step closer to realizing their dreams of independence. DSACT wants to give members the opportunity to learn new art skills and or develop an existing interest in the arts. The sessions are five hours long (held Tuesday - Saturday) and have been enthusiastically embraced by those who have participated this past year.

Classes must be arranged with the program director of the Arc of the Arts Studio in advance. Individuals must complete an application and go through an admission process. Please contact the Program Manager, Amber Nelson, at (512) 476-7044 ext. 236  or by email at for information on classes and to complete an application.

DSACT is pleased to offer a monthly stipend for our members.  Limited stipends are available and must applied for.  For complete details and to apply please visit our Scholarships and Stipends Page
