Having spent several years in hotel sales and event planning, then working for three years at the Avon39 Walk to End Breast Cancer, she brings considerable knowledge of events and raising money for nonprofits. Ashley was born and raised in Michigan and is a graduate of Michigan State University. She and husband Chris (also a Spartan) moved to Austin in 2014 and have a fur baby named Fitzgerald.
Peggy joined DSACT in August 2014 as Education Manager, having retired from Round Rock ISD after 22 years of service as a Functional Academic Teacher, Functional Academic and Life Skills Lead Specialist, member of the Transition Team and a district Support Specialist. She is excited about the opportunities to provide parents and teachers with current research based knowledge and tools to develop independent, fulfilling lives for individuals with Down syndrome. Parents, teachers, the DSACT Board and the community working together are guaranteed to make a difference in the future of individuals.
Peggy has two grown married children, Michelle and Kurt, and one grandchild, Noah. She enjoys time with Noah, walking, traveling, and gathering with friends for cards and games.
Laura joined DSACT in April 2017 as Operations Coordinator, and is ecstatic to be part of the DSACT team. Laura holds a bachelors degree from Penn State University and a masters degree from The University of Texas at Austin. She previously coordinated grants, volunteers, and community relations with Austin Child Guidance Center and was most recently a case manager with the Early Childhood Intervention program in Travis County.
In her spare time, Laura enjoys being outside, working out, trying to get rid of a black thumb in her garden, and indulging in her guilty pleasure of "Law and Order."
